We do things a bit differently at Outlast Health and Performance. I wanted to highlight our Sunday morning Recovery WOD class that we offer at Outsiders CrossFit. For those that don’t know, our Sparks location is attached to Outsiders CrossFit, a top notch functional fitness gym in northern Baltimore County.

We offer this class to the members of Outsiders CrossFit at no charge. Why? Because we are passionate about helping people feel and move better. The Outsiders community welcomed us with open arms and we will do whatever we can to repay the favor.

What exactly is Recovery WOD?

Glad you asked. WOD = Workout of the Day. Recovery WOD is short for the Recovery Workout of the Day. We offer this class on Sunday mornings to help recover from the past week and prepare for the upcoming week.

We focus on mobility, stretching, breathing, core, functional movements, and accessory exercises. No two classes are the same.

Why is it called “Recovery WOD” and not “Mobility WOD”?

We get this question often. We also tend to hear people calling it “stretching class” from time to time. We do not focus on just mobility, so it’s not a fair representation of the class.

Our focus is on an active recovery from the prior week. Since the title Mobility-Stretch-Breath-Core-Function-Accessory Class doesn’t quite roll off the tongue, we decided to just go with Recovery WOD.

I can just stretch on my own. Why should I take your class?

First off, we don’t just stretch. We do our best to program this class tailored to the specific body parts in need of more attention each week. Shannon and I workout at Outsiders CrossFit and also have access to all of their programming in case we were unable to workout there that week for whatever reason. We also have a consistent following of several core people in our group. We match the intensity of our sessions to what is best for our typical athlete.

Stretching on your own is great. This is more than just stretching. Not everybody needs guidance, but almost everyone can benefit from it. Try it out. Let us know what you think.

Do I have to be a member of Outsiders CrossFit to attend a Recovery WOD class?

No. The class is free for Outsiders members, however we have had several people drop-in for our recovery classes. Usually, these are our clients or people interested in feeling better after they workout.

To drop in, I recommend reaching out to us directly at info@outlasthealth.com to discuss the process. Most drop ins will attend our recovery class and stick around for the Sunday CrossFit WOD to make the most out of their Sunday fitness program.

What if I have an injury?

We host the class. We are physical therapists. We got your back. Whether you are injured or pain-free, we can lead you towards better recovery and teach you some mobility or accessory work to improve your performance in the gym or in life.

We hope to see you at our next class!
